Forgive the pun, but it’s getting to that Sloe point in the year again. Or at least the time when there are lots of Sloe berries around (on eBay in my case). So obviously it’s time to make Sloe Gin.
I’ve literally never made the stuff before, but there seemed to be so many recipes on Google, so much gin here, and many many sloe berries on eBay so I figured it was worth a go. It was a case of pricking all the berries with a fork a few times, putting them in a 1.5l gin bottle (yes, that’s how I roll…), adding 8oz sugar, a few drops of almond essence, some gin (surprisingly) and waiting. I’m still doing the waiting part strangely enough, but I’ll be testing it at some point. It looks pretty awesome currently, here’s to assuming it tastes the same.
